Riivo, Peter and I are shocked and greatly saddened to learn of Maie's passing. Maie was one of the first people to welcome us to the County when we arrived here. It was fun to discover that Maie taught at Peter's High School while he was there; I bet she had a few distracted students!   She was such a lovely, warm and vibrant person, gone much too soon. Our thoughts go out to you and your family during this difficult  time.

Dear Riivo,
Glynne and I were shocked and so very sorry to hear of Maie’s sudden passing. She was such an elegant woman with an easy smile and I always enjoyed our interactions at the golf club and in the community. She spoke with such pride of her children and joy about her grandchildren. She will be terribly missed. Please accept our deepest condolences at this sad time.

Dear Riivo. I was surprised to see Ilves in the paper, so I read on.  What a beautiful, talented woman you have lost! Please accept my sympathies.
Surprisingly, we live in Belleville & have raised our boys here.
I have had brief emails with Don Saari, Ron Hansen, Amy Winchester, Nancy Pernu Jolie, Tricia etc. over the past few years. I would welcome a word from you anytime in the future.
Our thoughts are with you & your family at this sad time.

I was shocked and saddened to read about the passing of Maie in today’s paper. She had such an influence on me as a young teacher at Kipling C.I. I was so lucky to have her as my department head and mentor. She set the bar high and was instrumental in my career. She also became a friend whom I enjoyed many squash games / lunches / social activities with. I was lucky to reconnect with her when she came back to Ontario, but I am very sorry I never made it out to Picton. I thought we had more time. My sincere condolences to Riivo and family.

So sad to just hear this news. Maie was like my Albany mom at times and I’ll always remember her as someone who loved life, family, friends, and golf.
I was so upset to hear about her this week. My sincere condolences to my mentor and good friend Riivo and his children Katriina and Eerik. God bless.

Dear Riivo and family , you likely don’t remember me but Maie was a beloved teacher of mine when I was a student at Silverthorn Collegiate . She had just embarked on her teaching career . She was also my gymnastics coach . When I was in Grade 10 , my father died suddenly and Maie was so very supportive of me during that very difficult time in my life . She regularly drove my home late after practice as my mother had to move far from Silverthorn after losing her husband . Maie kept in touch with me over the years and cheered me on as I became a physician myself . I was deeply saddened to hear of this news . My heart goes out to you all . If possible, I would appreciate your snail mail address as I would like to write you a more complete note about what an impact she made on my life . With deep sympathy , Bonnie Cameron

It was very sad to hear about Maie. She lead by example at Kipling Collegiate as a young teacher with hard work and a positive relationship with every student and staff member.  I saw her a few years ago at a retired teachers lunch and she was still a ray of sunshine.
